           Remembering the Life of 
                 Norma L. Ennis
February 11, 1930 - December 20,02012
 Mrs. Ennis was born in Detroit, Michigan of parents William Rolla and Hattie Ellen Smith. She moved with her father to Bakersfield California in 1944 during 'World War II. Norma completed her education in Bakersfield, married Martin Sanford Ennis who preceded her in death in. 1971. Together they had four sons: Paul, Mark, Michael and Matthew.

The family moved to Modesto in 1961. Norma was active in her children’s schools as well as working at various jobs. She was president of the Orville Wright P.T.A., the first woman in Modesto to be a little league baseball coach and manager. She was appointed chairman of the education committee of the Community Action Program after being elected by the residents in her area. She visited and reported on all the Head Start Programs in Stanislaw County.  

She settled into her career as a laboratory technician and worked at Checkerboard Foods, Del. Monte Cannery and Hershey Chocolate in 1980. After returning she was a volunteer at the Delta Blood Bank. Norma had also been secretary and vice president of Conant Place Residents’ Association. She was an active member of Shelter Cove Community Church. She liked to square dance, garden, play cards, and was a baseball fan.

Mrs. Ennis leaves four sons: Martin Paul and Matthew Vale of Oklahoma City, Michael Dale and William Mark of Orlando, Florida, two grandsons, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren.

Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson, California
